LONEWOLF wurden 1993 in Grenoble, im Südosten Frankreichs, gegründet. Nach der ersten Demokasette “The Calling” (1994) und der “Holy Evil” 7″ Single (1996) ging die Band auseinander, kam aber in 2000 zurück, stärker und passionierter denn jemals zuvor und dem gleichen Ziel im Gepäck: den wahren Metal zu spielen. Im gleichen Jahr erschien das Debut “March Into The Arena” als Eigenveröffentlichung der Band,. Das spanische Label Goi Music gab die CD mit einem Bonus Track uim Jahr darauf neu geraus. Erste ernthafte Liveshows standen auf dem Plan: das Heavy Metal Holocaust Festival in Athen (Griechenland) und als Opener für die erste französische GRAVE DIGGER Live Show.
Das zweite Langeisen “Unholy Paradise” erschien 2003. Obwohl die Band nicht besonders glücklich mit dem Sound und der Produktion war, war es dennoch ein riesiger Schritt vorwärts und LONEWOLF fingen an, sich im Heavy Metal Untergrund einen Namen zu machen. Das Album wurde beworben mit zahlreichen Livegigs wie: PARAGON, WIZARD, PAUL DI’ANNO, SACRED STEEL, DARK AGE oder GRIM REAPER. In 2004 entschied die Band die Unterstützung der griechischen Metalheads zu honorieren, die die Band seit den Anfangstagen unterstützte und mit der 7″ Single “Hellenic Warriors” erfolgte das auf dem griechischen Label Eat Metal Records. Diese boten LONEWOLF auch einen Album Deal an. “Made In Hell”, das dritte Studio Album wurde in den Microclimat Studios in Frankreich aufgenommen, mit dem LONEWOLF Sound Engineer Mitch am Mischpult, abgemischt wurde im deutschen Eike Studio von Eike Freese (DARK AGE). Es erschien im Februar 2008. Später im gleichen Jahr das HARD ROCKER Magazin aus Polen veröffentlichte “The Curse Of The Seven Seas” Album, ein CD Sampler inklusive der wichtigsten und rarsten Songs von LONEWOLF. Einige Monate später unterzeichnete Die Band einen exklusiven Management & Booking Deal mit Bart Gabriel’s HARD ROCKER MANAGEMENT (Heimat von CRYSTAL VIPER, WIZARD und WILD KNIGHT, der neuen Band von ex-RUNNING WILD und X-WILD Mitgliedern). Das nächste Studio Album wurde im Sommer 2009 aufgenommen und wartet mit einigen Special Guests wie Majk Moti (RUNNING WILD), Jan Bunning (PARAGON) und Marta (CRYSTAL VIPER) auf, wurde gemischt und gemastert vom legendären Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND, HAMMERFALL) und produziert von Bart Gabriel (CRYSTAL VIPER, METALUCIFER, SABBAT). Das Cover wurde von Chris Moyen gemalt, dem Kult-Künstler, bekannt durch seine Arbeiten für SLAYER, TRIVIUM oder DESASTER. Kurz nach den Aufnahmen unterschrieben LONEWOLF einen Plattenvertrag für mehrere Alben mit dem deutschen Heavy Metal Label Karthago Records, auf dem “The Dark Crusade” dann am 15. November 2009 als CD erschien. Vinyl kommt über KILLER METAL RECORDS!
Zwei weitere Songs der “Dark Crusade”-Aufnahmesessions (“Beyond the grave” / “Iron religion”) wurden im September 2010 auf dem ersten KILLER METAL RECORDS-Vinyl-LP-Sampler “METAL OR DEATH” veröffentlicht! Diese bieten die gleiche hohe Qualität wie die LP!
LONEWOLF was formed in Grenoble (south-east of France) in 1993. After the first demo tape “The Calling” (1994), and the “Holy Evil” 7″ single (1996) the band has split up but returned in 2000, stronger and more dedicated than ever before, with the same .. playing True Metal. The same year the debut CD album “March Into The Arena” was out (released by the band, and next year re-released by a Spanish label Goi Music with a bonus track). First serious live shows took place: LONEWOLF was invited to play at the Heavy Metal Holocaust Festival in Athens (Greece), and opened the first French GRAVE DIGGER live show.
Second full lenght album “Unholy Paradise” came out in 2003. Even if the band wasn’t happy with its sound and production, it was a huge step forward, and band made its name in the Heavy Metal underground, and supported the album sharing the stage with acts such as: PARAGON, WIZARD, PAUL DI’ANNO, SACRED STEEL, DARK AGE or GRIM REAPER. In 2004 band decided to honor the Greek metalheads who were supporting LONEWOLF since the beginning, and the very special 7″ single “Hellenic Warriors” was out on the Eat Metal Records. The same label decided to offer LONEWOLF an album deal – “Made In Hell”, the third full lenght studio release has been recorded at the Microclimat Studio in France (with LONEWOLF’s sound engineer Mitch behind the recording board), and mixed at the German Eike Studio by Eike Freese (DARK AGE). Album was out in February 2008, and later the same year, the HARD ROCKER magazine from Poland released “The Curse Of The Seven Seas” album: CD compilation incl. most important and rare tracks of LONEWOLF. Few months later band signed exclusive management & booking deal with Bart Gabriel’s HARD ROCKER MANAGEMENT (home of CRYSTAL VIPER, WIZARD and WILD KNIGHT, new band of the ex-RUNNING WILD and X-WILD members). The next studio album recorded in summer of 2009 (and featuring special guests such as Majk Moti of RUNNING WILD, Jan Bunning of PARAGON and Marta of CRYSTAL VIPER), has been mixed and mastered by the legendary Andy La Rocque (KING DIAMOND, HAMMERFALL), and produced by Bart Gabriel (CRYSTAL VIPER, METALUCIFER, SABBAT). Front cover artwork was drawn by Chris Moyen, the cult artist known from cooperation with bands such as SLAYER, TRIVIUM or DESASTER. Shortly after recording the album, LONEWOLF signed multiple record deal with the German Heavy Metal label Karthago Records, which will release “The Dark Crusade” on November 15, 2009. Vinyl comes through KILLER METAL RECORDS.
Two more songs of the “Dark Crusade”-recording sessions (“Beyond the grave” / “Iron religion”) were released on the first KILLER METAL RECORDS vinyl-LP-compilation “METAL OR DEATH” in September 2010.
